Bob Weber
Weber is a management consultant and blogger focused on blockchains, smart contracts, distributed ledgers, and rights management broadly construed. His interests include watermarking, fingerprinting, and technologies and systems for protecting digital content. He has been involved in the Copyright Industries, rights management, and intellectual property since 1990.
In his role as Vice President, Corporate Development and Licensing, Open Security Solutions, LLC, Mr. Weber was instrumental in licensing a portfolio of patents relating to information security and encryption to a patent licensing and assertion company, who enforced the patents in the Eastern District of Texas. The litigation was settled on terms favorable to OSS and the licensing company.
He was also SVP, Business and Technology Strategy, InterTrust Technologies Corporation, where he made significant contributions to the company's intellectual property. He is a co-inventor of a significant DRM patent portfolio that was licensed by InterTrust to Microsoft for nearly a half billion dollars, successfully asserted against Apple, and generating substantial licensing revenue for Intertrust.
Weber has also been a Principal at Northeast Consulting Resources, Inc. (NCRI, prior to its acquisition by NerveWire). At NCRI, his consulting practice focused on the intersection of business and information technology strategy with a particular emphasis on Information Commerce, the copyright industries, Internet-based services, and technology-based companies. His NCRI clients included Lexis-Nexis IBM, Thomson, and the Association of American Publishers, who co-sponsored public workshops on the Future of Publishing. While at NCRI, Weber also created public workshops on The Future of Information Commerce.
