Smart contracts, (blockchains, distributed ledgers) and rights management broadly construed are the themes of today's Spotlight Patents. Assigned to TuneGO, first patent addresses techniques for tokenized media content management. Assigned to Aurign, the second patent addresses techniques for creating music publishing agreements from metadata of a digital audio workstation.
11500972, “Tokenized media content management,” assigned to TuneGO, Inc.
A system and method for media content management include creating, via a digital vault, a container file comprising media content submitted by a user and content metadata; verifying, via the digital vault, a completeness of the content metadata associated with the media content in the container file; classifying, via the digital vault, the container file based on the completeness of the media content; and capturing, via the digital vault, event metadata when a second user gains access to the container file, the event metadata comprising identification of the second user, an activation timestamp, a duration of access, portions of the container file accessed, and changes to the container file.
11500971, “System for creating music publishing agreements from metadata of a digital audio workstation,” assigned to Aurign, Inc.
Systems and methods relating to a platform for creating, monitoring, updating, and executing legal agreements for data files such as a collaborate digital media file using associated metadata. The platform enables music publishing agreements to be generated automatically by taking metadata from a DAW (digital audio workstation) that reflects the activity and contributions of each author associated with a file. Authorship metadata can be recorded on a ledger or blockchain by the platform. The platform enables calculation and disbursement of royalties to be automated by algorithmic determination of terms of an authenticated smart contract using authorship metadata for an associated media file generating the royalty. Authors may concurrently contribute from across a variety of different DAWs, local and remote, and computing resources may be distributed by the platform.
