New pending patents are published by the USPTO on Thursdays. Both of today's Spotlight Applications continue the theme of blockchains (distributed ledgers, smart contracts) and rights management broadly construed. Assigned to Visa, the first application discloses techniques for using digital signatures to create trusted digital asset transfers. Assigned to Strong Force, the second application discloses techniques for transaction-enabled systems and methods with licensing smart wrappers and IP aggregation.
20200099518, "Methods and systems for using digital signatures to create trusted digital asset transfers, assigned to Visa.
A method and system are provided for transferring digital assets in a digital asset network. Network users can be centrally enrolled and screened for compliance. Standardized transfer processes and unique identifiers can provide a transparent and direct transfer process. Digital assets can include sufficient information for ensuring that a value will be provided, including one or more digital signatures, such that value can be made immediately available to recipients.
20200098069, Transaction-enabled systems and methods with licensing smart wrappers and IP aggregation," assigned to Strong Force TX Portfolio 2018, LLC.
Transaction-enabled systems and methods with licensing smart wrappers and IP aggregation are disclosed. An example transaction-enabling system may include a smart wrapper structured to aggregate intellectual property (IP) assets into an aggregate stack of IP; and a smart contract wrapper configured to: access a distributed ledger comprising a plurality of intellectual property (IP) licensing terms corresponding to the aggregated IP; interpret an IP description value and an IP addition request; and in response to the IP addition request and the IP description value, add an IP asset to the aggregate stack of IP and commit a party to at least one of the plurality of IP licensing terms.
