New pending patent applications are published on Thursdays by the USPTO. This week's Spotlight Applications concern aspects of digital fingerprinting and digital watermarking. Assigned to Tencent (CN), the first application discloses a video detection method and a server. Assigned to Disney, the second application discloses techniques for distributing supplemental content based on content entities within video content.

Abstract
Embodiments of this application disclose a video detection method and a server. The method includes: obtaining first video data to be detected; decoding the first video data, to obtain audio data of the first video data; analyzing and identifying the audio data, to obtain audio fingerprint data corresponding to the audio data; querying an audio fingerprint library; obtaining a video label and a time parameter corresponding to the audio data when the audio fingerprint library comprises the audio fingerprint data; querying a video copyright library, to obtain a first picture that is corresponding to the video label and that satisfies the time parameter, and extracting a second picture that is in the first video data and that satisfies the time parameter; separately extracting a first feature parameter of the first picture and a second feature parameter of the second picture; and comparing the first feature parameter with the second feature parameter, and determining, based on a comparison result, whether the first video data is consistent with a video in the video copyright library.

Abstract
Embodiments provide techniques for distributing supplemental content based on content entities within video content. Embodiments include analyzing video data to identify a known content entity within two or more frames of the video data. For each of the two or more frames, a region of pixels within the respective frame is determined that corresponds to the known content entity. Embodiments further include determining supplemental content corresponding to the known content entity. A watermark is embedded at a first position within the video data, such that the watermark corresponds to an identifier associated with the determined supplemental content. Upon receiving a message specifying the identifier, embodiments include transmitting the supplement content to a client device for output together with the video data.
