New patents are issued by by the USPTO on Tuesdays. Today's Spotlight Patents concern blockchain (distributed ledger, smart contracts) and digital rights management broadly construed. Assigned to BofA, the first of today's patents addresses techniques for allowing external validation of data in a process data network. Assigned to Bao Tran, the second patent addresses an IoT device in which blockchain smart contracts can be used with the device to facilitate secure operation.

Abstract
Systems, computer program products, and methods are described herein for a system for allowing external validation of data in a process data network. The present invention is configured to create a block chain of resource information based on at least aggregated information associated with past transfer of resources executed by an entity; receive an indication that the entity has executed a transfer of resources at a terminal; receive information associated with the transfer of resources based on at least receiving the indication that the entity has executed the transfer of resources; and update the block chain of transaction information with the transaction activity executed by the entity.

Abstract
An Internet of Thing (IoT) device includes a camera coupled to a processor; and a wireless transceiver coupled to the processor. Blockchain smart contracts can be used with the device to facilitate secure operation.
