New pending patent applications are published by the USPTO on Thursdays. Both of today's Spotlight Applications concern aspects of digital rights management. Assigned to Intel, the first application discloses techniques for reverse DRM geo-fencing of UAVs [unmanned aerial vehicles or drones]. Assigned to Axis AB (SE), the second application discloses techniques for delegating access rights.
20170255194, "Reverse DRM geo-fencing of UAV method and apparatus," assigned to Intel.
Abstract
Apparatuses, methods and storage medium associated with reverse DRM geo-fencing are disclosed. In embodiments, an UAV may comprise sensors to provide sensor data for aerial operation over or near a geographic area, and collect sensor data of a target within the geographic area, and a reverse DRM geo-fence policy enforcement manager to enforce reverse DRM geo-fence policies on operation of the sensors while the UAV operates over/near the geographic area. In other embodiments, a base station may include a reverse DRM geo-fence policy generator to instruct an UAV to enforce reverse DRM geo-fence policies on operation of sensors of the UAV on collecting sensor data of the target within the geographic area while the UAV operates over or near the geographic area. Other embodiments may be disclosed or claimed.
20170257377, "Method and device for delegating access rights," assigned to Axis AB (SE)
Abstract
A method and a device for delegating access rights in a system which is configured to handle access rights of users to resources in the system is disclosed. The method comprises assigning a first access right to a first user; appointing a pool of one or more users serving as deputies for the first user; checking if the first user, during a predefined period of time, has refrained from performing a predefined activity with respect to the resources; and if so, delegating the first access right to a user in the pool.
