The US Patent Office issues new patents on Tuesdays. Issued patents and published applications may be early indicators of the kinds of issues being addressed by inventors and/or the companies for whom they work. Assigned to Canon, the first patent discloses a way of using more than one data in a Watermark. Assigned to Portogo, Inc., the second of today's patents addresses an adjacency issue, namely, insuring data sent over the Internet.
6,922,777, "Apparatus, computer medium, and method for embedding and extracting a first and second data into a watermark," assigned to Canon.
In an information processing system having a plurality of information processing apparatuses connected through a network, at least one of the plurality of information processing apparatuses can add first additional information to input information as an electronic watermark using a first adding method, and can add second additional information to the input information as an electronic watermark using a second adding method. The first adding method has a higher robustness than the second adding method, and the first additional information can be used for identifying the second adding method.
6,922,720, "Systems and methods for insuring data over the internet," assigned to Portogo, Inc.
Systems and methods are provided which afford a technical application for insuring, bonding, and underwriting a transmission of a data set, streaming data, and/or document over the Internet through TCP/IP and all other electronic media such as WAP (wireless application protocol), VOIP (voice-over IP), fiber optic channels, microwave channels, and through standard electrical switches, electrical outlets and power lines. The present invention includes a computer readable medium having computer executable instruction to cause a system perform a method for insuring, bonding, and/or underwriting data transmission. The method includes enabling a first remote client coupled to a communications network to insure, bond, and/or underwrite a transmission of an electronic data set, streaming data, and/or document, with a selected coverage type for a selected coverage amount, from the first remote client to one or more second remote clients. The method further includes charging a fee to an appropriate account for the selected coverage type and amount.
