Audible Magic, NDS, SecureMedia, Nagra, Widevine

I'm made some changes / additions to the resources listings in the right-most column. Audible Magic has been moved from Watermarking to Fingerprinting. Thanks to DM for pointing out that I had misunderstood them. I'll be adding to the Fingerprinting list in the near future.

In the IPTV group, I've added pointers to NDS, SecureMedia, Nagra, and Widevine.

The Dangers of Humor and Other Thoughts

Sorry that Wil Wheaton was offended at my arguably poor attempt at punny humor. No offense intended. Although I did not make it clear in my post, I was more interested in the reaction of the blogosphere to Mr. Wheaton's problem in getting DirecTV to work with his display. Sorry if I seemed unsympathetic.

I strongly agree with Mr. Wheaton that copy protection technology should not create problems for the consumer. If someone as technically literate as Mr. Wheaton experiences difficulties, the average consumer will be worse off by far. Even when there appears to be a simple solution, the average consumer is unlikely to find it on her / his own.

Point Taken

Dennis notes that the podcasting licensing blogicle posted here this morning might have made the point that the licensing applied to music, not talk. Point taken; the blogicle has been slightly edited.
